Wrightsville Beach is a barrier island with the Atlantic on one side and Banks Channel, the sound and the Intracoastal on the other, and there is no side of the island that escapes the salt. Oceanfront glass along Lumina Avenue and the north and south ends dries a white film within a week of a cleaning, heaviest on a northeast wind or in a nor'easter when the spray carries across the whole island to Harbor Island.
